Salminen, dating approximately from the 1960s or 1970s. A sculptural bird is carved in light wood and mounted against a warm red brown veneered wooden panel.

The bird has an elongated body, rising wings and a strongly stylised tail. The composition suggests a fantastic bird, perhaps a phoenix or firebird. Its flowing silhouette and simplified carving give the piece a distinctly modernist character.

Carved Wood Composition

The bird is carved separately and attached to the backing with small nails.
