About the Piece
Vintage solid pine wood serving plate by Aarikka, made in Finland.
The piece has a low, rounded form with a shallow recessed centre and a broad smooth rim. It can be used as a serving plate, small tray, table centrepiece or decorative wooden dish. The form is simple, but the material gives it a strong visual presence.
The plate is made from carefully fitted and polished sections of pine. Each wooden part has its own grain direction and tone, creating a natural pattern across the surface. The result is warm, graphic and very tactile.
Maker and Origin
Manufacturer: Aarikka
Country: Finland
Material: Pine wood
Marking: Aarikka Finland on the bottom
Form and Material
The plate is quite substantial for its size, with a thickness of 2.5 cm. The rounded edge gives it a soft sculptural profile, while the flat recessed centre makes it practical for serving or display.
The pine has a warm golden honey tone with darker grain lines and natural variations in the wood. The joined sections create a quiet geometric rhythm, especially visible from above. This makes the object feel handmade and individual, rather than uniform.
Colour and Surface
The colour is a natural aged pine shade: light amber, honey yellow and warm brown in the grain. The polished surface reflects light softly and shows the beauty of the wood without heavy decoration.
Small natural marks and variations in tone are part of the character of the material.
Dimensions
Diameter: 19.5 cm
Thickness: 2.5 cm
Condition
Very good vintage condition with some signs of previous use. Light surface marks may be present, consistent with a vintage wooden serving piece. The plate remains solid, clean and attractive.
Why It Stands Out
A rare Aarikka wooden object with a strong material presence. The thick rounded form, visible pine grain and fitted wood construction make it a beautiful example of Finnish wooden design.
It works well for serving small items, displaying jewellery or decorative objects, or as a warm natural accent in a Nordic interior.
