Only one available
A wide bronze ring from Kalevala Koru, based on a late Iron Age model found in Yliskylä, Perniö in Finland. The form is strong and archaic, with a high shield shaped front and an open back that allows small adjustment of the size.
The surface is decorated with raised ribs and stamped ornament. Between the rounded bands runs a repeated zigzag pattern, one of the oldest decorative motifs known across many cultures. In ancient Egypt, the zigzag was connected with water, and water symbols were often linked with life and renewal.
On this ring the pattern feels direct and tactile. The design has the weight of archaeological jewellery, but it is still wearable as a distinctive everyday piece.
Perniö Ring and Finnish Iron Age Inspiration
The original model for this ring comes from Perniön Yliskylä and dates to the 1100s. Wide shield rings of this type belong to the late Iron Age tradition in Finland, when jewellery carried both ornament and meaning.
Kalevala used historical Finnish finds as a source for many of its bronze and silver jewellery pieces. The Perniö ring is one of those designs where the old form remains clearly visible: broad front, narrowing open band, stamped signs and a warm bronze surface.
Production of the bronze Perniö ring ended in the 2010s, so older examples are no longer regular current production pieces.
