A vintage table lamp by the Finnish lighting manufacturer Lival, made during the 1960s or 1970s. Solid teak, brass toned metal and white painted metal create a warm combination typical of Finnish interiors of the period.
Its compact proportions make it suitable for a bedside table, desk, reading corner or sideboard. When lit, the perforated metal ring beneath the shade casts a circle of small pools of light around the lamp.
Sculptural Teak Form
The most distinctive element is the central teak section. It resembles a rounded sphere with its upper and lower parts cut away, then shaped with broad horizontal steps. This unusual profile gives the lamp a strong sculptural presence while keeping the overall design balanced and compact.
The turned wooden base has a visible grain and a deep brown tone. Brass surfaces have developed a natural patina that suits the warm colour of the teak.
Light and Atmosphere
The lamp provides soft, comfortable light for an evening interior. The perforated white metal gallery allows additional light to escape below the shade, creating a decorative pattern on the surrounding surface.
A switch is positioned on the wooden base for convenient use.
