Large vintage birch serving plate by Tailio, made in Finland in the 1970s. The plate has a strong round form with a raised centre and a wide flat rim, giving it a clear graphic presence on the table.
The red colour is especially striking. It is bright and warm. The birch grain remain visible, so the surface keeps its natural wooden character.

Tailio pieces often have a simple, practical shape, but this plate has more visual weight than an ordinary serving dish. The deep red tone changes slightly with the light, from ruby red to darker cranberry shades, while the circular turned details add structure to the surface.
It can be used for serving fruit, bread, dry snacks or pastries, and also works well as a decorative tray on a table, shelf or sideboard.
