Vintage hand blown Löytö glass vase from Finland. The name Löytö means Discovery in Finnish, a fitting name for a piece where the main visual effect comes from light, transparency and the movement of the glass itself.
Made of clear glass. Its expression comes from the deep vertical ribs, thick base and softly widening form. When placed against a dark background, the clear glass creates strong shadows and optical lines, giving the vase a much more sculptural presence than its small size might suggest.
Design and Attribution
The Löytö series was originally designed in the 1950s.
The series is often associated with Tapio Wirkkala, one of the central figures of Finnish glass design. Some accounts suggest that much of the actual design work may have been carried out by Erkki Vesanto and Saara Sappinen, based on ideas attributed to Wirkkala.
Material and Form
Hand-blown clear glass with a ribbed, fan shaped structure. The vase has a low, open body and a heavy clear base. The vertical ribs catch and bend the light, creating a strong optical rhythm around the surface.
The shape works well both as a small flower vase and as a decorative glass object. Its compact size makes it easy to place on a shelf, table, windowsill or among other Finnish glass pieces.

Why It Stands Out
This Löytö vase shows how much character clear glass can have when the form is strong. The ribbed sides, thick base and open silhouette give it depth, reflection and a precise Finnish modernist feel without using colour or decoration.
