Collection: Designer: Ingegerd Råman

Ingegerd Råman, born in Stockholm in 1943, is one of Sweden’s most respected designers in both ceramics and glass. Her education began under Carl Malmsten at Capellagården, continued at Konstfack in Stockholm, and later took her to Faenza, Italy, where she studied ceramic chemistry, a technical foundation that would influence her material precision throughout her career.

She opened her first studio in Skåne in 1967, focusing initially on ceramics before transitioning into glass. Her first major position in glass design was at Johansfors glassworks between 1968 and 1972. In 1981, she became the designer at the newly revived Skruf glassworks, where she created the Bellman series still in production today. In the late 1990s, Råman began her long collaboration with Orrefors glass, where she spent 13 years creating some of the company’s most recognizable collections.

Beyond objects, her work includes architectural collaborations, notably with Gert Wingårdh on public buildings. Today, she continues to work from her studios in Stockholm and Skåne, remaining dedicated to thoughtful, pared-back forms that value silence over spectacle.
