Overview
Pair of vintage wine glasses designed by Göran Hongell, one of the central names in Finnish glass design. The model was produced by Karhula and Iittala in Finland.
The glasses have a graceful tall stem, a clear rounded bowl and coloured glass in the stem and foot. One glass is bright green, the other has a deeper olive green tone. Together they make a lively, slightly mismatched pair with strong mid-century character.
Design
The form is elegant and light, but with enough visual weight in the coloured stem to make the glasses stand out on the table. The clear bowl keeps the look refined, while the green glass gives the design its distinctive Finnish colour note.
The two glasses are not fully identical. The olive green glass has a slightly different bowl shape, which is visible when placed next to the brighter green example. This small variation adds interest and reflects the character of vintage mould blown glass.
