Trio of goblets by Hugo Gehlin, Gullaskruf Sweden, 1930s
A goblet in beautiful blue-gray color with an elegant stem by the renowned Swedish artist and designer Hugo Gehlin. Set of 3.
Gehlin is considered one of the pioneers of the mid-20th century modernist style, although he worked during the Art Deco era, in the 1920s-1940s. His works already hinted at the new style, characterized by exceptional attention to form and unusual colors.
At the same time, the graceful shapes of vases and stemmed goblets, which Gehlin favored, also show the influence of medieval European forms of vessels.
Gehlin's works are featured in the permanent collections of the British Museum and the Nationalmuseum of Sweden, as well as in museums in Gothenburg, Norrköping, Lund, Malmö, Småland, Helsingborg, and many others.
Manufactured at the Gullaskruf factory, 1930s-1940s. Excellent vintage condition. Height: 10.5 cm
