Overveiw

Vintage wooden brooch by the Finnish company Aarikka. A triangular form with hanging cords and beads, reminiscent of a bird in flight or a paper arrow with a tail. Warm toned wood, light, graphic and tactile.

Design & Form

The brooch is built around a sharp triangular silhouette softened by natural wood grain. Three corded tassels with wooden beads introduce movement and balance. The composition suggests several associations at once:

• a stylised bird or fish,

• an arrow or pennant,

• a small kinetic object worn on the body.

This openness of reading is typical of Scandinavian design objects that sit between jewellery and miniature sculpture.
