Alahärmä brooch by designer Germund Paaer is based on an 18th century authentic Finnish original. The piece belongs to the company’s classic tradition of jewellery based on Finnish archaeological finds, and was among the first 40 pieces introduced by Kalevala Koru when the company began selling jewellery in 1937.
Its circular centre is framed by a broad crescent form, with small raised details and a stylised figure at the top. Darkened recessed areas emphasise the ornament and give the brooch a strong graphic character.
Germund Paaer was Kalevala Koru’s long serving chief designer and created numerous pieces inspired by archaeological jewellery and objects found in Finland.
