Antique faience serving platter by Arabia, made in Helsinki during the period when Finland was still part of the Russian Empire.
The softly irregular outline and gently raised rim make the platter suitable for serving, display, or as part of a collection of early Finnish ceramics.
Rare Arabia Helsingfors Mark
The reverse carries a rare Arabia factory mark featuring the two-headed eagle of the Russian Empire with the Finnish lion coat of arms on its chest and the inscription Arabia Helsingfors.
The platter also has the impressed factory marking Arabia ZJ.
These markings date the piece to 1887 to 1910 and place it among the early production of Arabia in Helsinki.
