About the Piece
Vintage Arabia PW cofee cup and saucer designed by Peter Winquist in Finland.

The set has a deep brown glaze with almost black areas, warm reddish brown edges and a soft speckled surface inside the cup. The colour changes with light: from dark coffee brown to smoky bronze and olive brown tones. The thin pale rim gives the form a clear outline and makes the dark glaze look even deeper.

The shape is low, wide and calm, with a rounded cup body and a small loop handle. The saucer is broad and glossy, giving the cup a strong horizontal presence. It feels very much of Finnish studio influenced tableware: simple in form, rich in glaze and visually quiet without being plain.

Colour and Surface
