Object
Vintage Arabia Finland coffee cup and saucer from the iconic Ruska series designed by Ulla Procopé during the 1960s and 1970s.
Ruska became one of the defining Scandinavian ceramic series of its era through its quiet presence, exceptional durability, and deeply atmospheric glaze. The surface shifts between warm brown, chestnut, burnt cinnamon, and almost smoky black tones depending on the light. Every piece carries slight variations created during firing, giving the series its distinctive organic character.
The texture and colouring recall traditional Japanese ceramics and the calm material focused approach that strongly influenced Nordic design during the period. Ruska takes its name from the Finnish word for autumn foliage, and the series carries that same muted warmth associated with northern autumn landscapes and long evenings indoors.
This example retains a visible Arabia factory stamp on the saucer, something that has become increasingly uncommon with Ruska pieces over decades of use, as the stoneware surface often gradually wears factory markings away.

Cylindrical coffee cup with balanced proportions and a slightly flared rim paired with a wide saucer.
