Vintage small ceramic decor bowl & astray belongs to Tarina, a series produced by Arabia and developed by the company’s Art Department. Executed in brown tinted porcelain with hand-scratched decoration, the piece reflects a dialogue between Nordic folk motifs and modernist abstraction.
Despite its modest size, the form is deliberate and sculptural. The shallow bowl is asymmetrical, with a small integrated rest that subtly breaks the circle. The incised white pattern radiates inward like fragments of symbols or primitive markings, giving the surface a narrative quality rather than a purely ornamental one, true to the name Tarina (Finnish for Story).

The decoration recalls a sun disk, ritual shield or primitive map, a field of signs arranged around a calm, empty center.
