Blue-turquoise vintage bowl in Mediterranean Sea colors, Mdina glass Malta, 1998
A substantial handmade vintage bowl in the colors of the Mediterranean Sea. Modernist glass from Malta.
In 1968, one of the most renowned English glass designers, Michael Harris, established the first art glass production in the ancient Maltese town of Mdina. The designers at Mdina drew inspiration from the colors of Maltese nature.
Beautiful interior decor resembling seaweed and aquatic plants in the ocean, made with colored glass.
Partially these pieces were made from old bottle glass, which was abundant in Malta. Therefore, this is, among other things, an incredible story of recycling in 1970-90s.
Made using a sophisticated technique of frosted glass. Tactile pleasant one.
Mdina glassworks, 1998. Signed by manufacturer. Diameter 12,5 cm, Height 6 cm. Only slight traces of use, some very tiny scratches on exterior part. No damages
