Brutalist pendant ceiling lamp with a strong mid-century character and a clear Nordic Space Age mood. The form is compact and almost sculptural: a white opaline glass shade sits below a perforated brass collar, with a black painted metal cone above it. The contrast between soft glass, aged brass and dark metal gives the lamp a sharper presence than many ceiling lights from the same period.

The white opal glass shade has a rounded geometric profile, with a slightly flared lower part and a raised ring near the top. When lit, it gives a warm, even glow and softens the shape of the lamp. The perforated brass section adds a small decorative rhythm and shows an attractive natural patina. The black upper cone keeps the silhouette more graphic and architectural.

This type of lamp fits well in a hallway, small bedroom, kitchen corner, reading area or above a side table. It can also work as a character piece in a group of vintage pendant lights.

Materials and details

Made in the Nordics, most likely in the 1950s or 1960s.

The lamp combines white opaline glass, brass, painted metal and a bakelite socket. The brass has visible age related patina, which suits the design well. The black painted metal top shows minor vintage wear. The original style socket and construction have been preserved.

The lamp is in fully working condition and uses a standard bulb socket. Bulb is not included.

Condition

Very good vintage condition.

There are normal traces of age and use on the metal and brass parts, including patina, small marks and light surface wear. The opal glass shade is in very good condition.

Measurements

Length of the lamp without cord: approximately 26.5 cm

For collectors and interiors

This pendant lamp has the compact, slightly brutalist look often found in Nordic lighting from the late 1950s and 1960s. The materials are simple, but the composition is strong: opal glass for soft light, brass for warmth, and black metal for a sharper modernist outline. A small piece, but visually confident.
