Brutalist Silver Lattice Pendant | Finland, 1970s
Brutalist Silver Lattice Pendant | Finland, 1970s
Overview
Vintage silver pendant belongs to the late modernist wave of Finnish jewelry, where sculptural form mattered more than symmetry or polish. Its character is raw, architectural and irregular.
Form & Visual Character
The pendant’s structure resembles a fragment of a lattice or extraterrestrial module - something between eroded architecture and a cosmic artifact. Open voids alternate with dense silver masses, creating depth and shadow despite the small scale. The surface is heavily textured, with looking natural cavities and ridges that catch light unevenly.
Material & Technique
Made of solid silver, the pendant shows evidence of expressive casting. The metal retains a darkened patina within recesses, emphasizing relief and structure rather than shine. Both pendant and chain are marked.
Origin
Finland, circa 1970s. Likely made by Salovaara jewelry company.
