Jaw dropping Finnish art glass vase. Large, bright and very physical in presence, this piece has the kind of surface that changes with every movement of light.
The vase combines a heavy inner layer of blue glass with a metallic carnival glass finish. The outer surface glows in gold, bronze, copper, violet, petrol blue and smoky silver tones. In some light it looks almost molten, in other light more like aged metal or mineral stone.
Design and Glass Surface
The form is tall and generous, with a rounded body, narrow neck and flared rim. The surface has an organic relief texture, full of uneven lines, raised areas and small natural variations from the making process.
The metallic finish follows the Tiffany carnival glass tradition, where an iridescent film is applied to the glass surface. Here the effect is especially dramatic: the golden bronze skin sits over the blue glass beneath, creating deep colour shifts and reflections.
