Vintage 2 purple glasses I-series, Timo Sarpaneva, Iittala Finland
Vintage 2 purple water glasses from iconic midmod I-series by renowned Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva. They are slightly of different tones.
I especially like how each glass is a little different from the rest due to the handmade work. It makes everyone of them unique.
Sarpaneva created numerous glass series that became world classics. In 1956 and 1957, he received the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale and many other prestigious international design awards. He was honored with Finland's highest award, the Order of the Lion of Finland. He served as a professor and honorary professor at the Royal College of Art in London and the University of Art and Design in Helsinki.
1956 - 1967. Iittala glassworks. Excellent vintage condition. They are mentioned as an I-series in Iittala production catalog.
