Richly patterned vintage textile, most likely Finnish and dating from the second half of the 20th century.
The piece appears to be handwoven on a loom, with a dense black ground and complex horizontal bands of geometric ornament. Bright red, cobalt blue, green, yellow and white threads form repeating motifs across both ends, while the central section is quieter, structured by fine coloured lines. Black fringes finish the textile at both ends.
Its narrow proportions make it suitable as a table runner, decorative textile or wall hanging.
