Design
A compact form with a slightly raised upper edge that gives the bowl a quiet architectural profile. The surface carries a hand painted blue rose with green leaves, placed asymmetrically so the decoration reveals itself as the object is turned in the hand.
Each example from this series was painted individually. The composition is never repeated in an identical way, and this is noticeable in the rhythm of the lines and density of the color. Fine crackle has developed over time, forming a network across the glaze that reads as part of the material.
