Holmegaard Per Lutken, Carnaby vase, Pop Art 1970s
Holmegaard Per Lutken, Carnaby vase, Pop Art 1970s
Sky blue and white Carnaby vase - candleholder in Pop Art style. Handcrafted using the cased glass technique, with an inner layer of white opaline glass.
Pop Art was characterized by unusual geometric forms and bright, "chemical" colors. It arrived in Scandinavia from the United States after World War II. In glassmaking, it initially sought to imitate the trendy plastics of the time.
This series of art glass was created by the most renowned Danish glass designer, Per Lütken, whose works are held not only in museums and galleries worldwide but also in the Danish royal collection. Swedish born designer Christer Holmgren collaborated with Lütken during the production of the Carnaby series. Holmgren designed this particular vase.
Height: 31.5 cm. Two very small marks, almost points alike, on the glass in lower part of a piece, which doesn't affect the overall appearance - please, refer to the photos. Otherwise, excellent vintage condition.
