Distinctive Gluck! series pitcher designed by Finnish ceramic and glass designer Kati Tuominen Niittylä in 1995 and produced at the Iittala glassworks around 1996.
The tall, slightly bent silhouette gives the pitcher an unusually sculptural presence. Vertical ribs run through the mould blown glass and follow the change of direction in the body. The clear teal colour accentuates the structure.
Gluck! Series
The Gluck! design belongs to the experimental side of Finnish glass from the 1990s. Its asymmetric profile and strong vertical structure make the pitcher immediately recognisable, while the functional form allows it to be used as a water jug, carafe or vase.
