Gorgeous Modernist vintage silver ring designed by Jorma Laine and made by Turun Hopea in Finland. Produced in 1973, it has clear geometry, weight and an almost architectural use of empty space.
The round top is cut with an open abstract pattern. The design brings to mind a small lunar map, floating clouds, seed pods or a simplified modernist flower seen from above.
Design and Character
Jorma Laine’s jewellery often sits between Nordic modernism and small scale sculpture. This ring follows that direction closely. The form is simple at first glance, but the cut out pattern changes with light, skin tone and angle.
Ring is large enough to be noticed, and the round shape makes it easy to wear. The decorative part measures about 2.5 cm, giving the piece real presence on the hand.

For Wearing and Collecting
This is a fine piece for collectors of Finnish modernist jewellery, especially those interested in Jorma Laine, Turun Hopea and silver design from the 1970s. It works well as a statement ring, with a graphic shape that pairs easily with black, linen, wool or simple everyday clothing.
The ring has the kind of quiet drama that Finnish silver jewellery of this period does particularly well: restrained, sculptural and unmistakably of its time.
