Overview
Vintage Space Age Finnish pendant lamp designed by Kai Finnmark, also known as Kai Ruokonen, for Lynx.
The lamp has a compact cylindrical form with a glossy deep brown metal outer shade. Rows of square openings run around the shade, giving the lamp its distinctive graphic character. When lit, the pattern creates small blocks of light and shadow around the room, while the white inner diffuser keeps the glow soft.
Design
This is a very recognisable Finnish 1970s lighting design. The brown enamel surface feels warm and architectural, while the square cut outs add rhythm without making the lamp look busy.
Inside the metal shade is a white acrylic cylinder that hides the bulb and softens the light. The pale cream ceiling canopy and top details create a gentle contrast with the dark brown shade. The result is a small lamp with strong visual presence, suitable above a side table, reading corner, hallway, kitchen table or vintage interior setting.
