Kaj Franck Nuutajarvi, Full set 6 cut Fennia glasses
Kaj Franck Nuutajarvi, Full set 6 cut Fennia glasses
Set of 6 vintage Finnish cut glasses by Kaj Franck for Nuutajärvi, from the Fennia series, 1951–1970.
Delicately proportioned stemmed glasses, each standing 9.5 cm tall, designed by iconic Finnish designer Kaj Franck and produced by the Nuutajärvi glassworks. Belonging to the "Fennia" series, these glasses feature fine, hand cut vertical lines radiating from the base of the bowl, a delicate decorative detail that plays beautifully with the light.
Originally intended as sherry or dessert wine glasses, their size and refined form also make them suitable for liqueurs or aperitifs. Mouth-blown and hand-finished, these glasses represent midcentury Nordic design at its most elegant and restrained.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks. Minor signs of use consistent with age.
Why buy vintage glass by Kaj Franck's?
He was a revolutionary in Art glass and tableware design.
In the early 1950s, Franck refused lush decorating of the items in favor of clean lines, shapes, interesting colors and textures, thus, becoming one of the founders of mid-20th century modernist design in the Nordics.
