Kaj Franck Nuutajarvi, Luna glass 1970s Finland
Vintage glass Luna designed in 1971 for Nuutajärvi Glassworks, one of Finland’s most prominent glass manufacturers.
Height is 9 cm, Diameter is 7 cm. Excellent vintage condition.
The form is minimal yet robust:
- It has a slightly thickened base, giving it a low center of gravity and a satisfying weight in the hand like a tactile anchor.
- The sides are subtly faceted, creating a play of light and shadow that adds visual interest without disrupting its simplicity.
- The rim is thin and precisely finished, emphasizing clarity and function.
This glass suits those who appreciate Scandinavian modernism with a utilitarian soul - ideal for someone who values clarity, durability and elegance over decoration. It fits equally well in a design-conscious home or a thoughtful, minimalist table setting.
Why buy Kaj Franck's design pieces?
He was a revolutionary in Art glass and tableware design.
In the early 1950s, Franck refused lush decorating of the items in favor of clean lines, shapes, interesting colors and textures, thus, becoming one of the founders of mid-20th century modernist design in the Nordics.
