Tall crystal candlestick from the Fanfar series, designed by Swedish glass artist Kjell Engman for Kosta Boda in 1986. The form is slender, theatrical and very controlled: a long clear stem rises from a broad foot to a heavy crystal top, where the candle cup sits inside a rounded sculptural crown.
The piece has a strong vertical line, but the upper part gives it weight and presence. Seen from above, the lower part is not perfectly circular. This slight irregularity is likely connected with the handmade production and gives the candlestick a more individual character.
It works well as a single statement piece on a dining table, sideboard or mantelpiece. With a candle, the clear crystal reflects the flame through the heavy upper section and along the stem.
Kjell Engman is known for glass with movement and expressive shape.
