Vintage glass bowl produced in Finland during the 1960s at Kumela glassworks. The piece was designed by Finnish designers Sirkku Kumela Lehtonen and Eero Sallinen.
The bowl is made from deep black glass and decorated with a hand-engraved botanical composition in silver tone. The design presents a stylized plant with leaves, stems and small berries arranged along a vertical axis.
The form is low and wide, with a smooth polished surface that reflects light across the dark glass body.

Design
The bowl has a shallow circular form with a broad interior surface that serves as the field for the engraved motif.
The decoration depicts a botanical branch composed of leaves, stems and small rounded berries. Fine engraved lines define the structure of the leaves, while larger elements are filled with a matte silver surface.
The combination of black glass and silver engraving produces strong visual contrast while keeping the overall design restrained.
Designers and Production
Sirkku Kumela Lehtonen was the first female chief designer at a glassworks in Finland.
Eero Sallinen collaborated on several glass objects produced at Kumela during the same period.
Kumela glassworks was active in Finnish art glass production during the mid-20th century and produced both decorative and utilitarian glass objects.
