Overview
Pair of vintage whiskey glasses from the Kievari series, designed by Matti Halme for Humppila Glass Factory in Finland.
Kievari means tavern in Finnish, and the name fits the character of the series well. These glasses feel made for the hand: solid, comfortable and relaxed, with a strong base and a clear upper bowl for whiskey or other strong alcohol.
Design
The shape is both practical and visually memorable. The lower part is heavy and rounded, made from thick glass. Above it rises a clear bowl.
Material and Craft
Made at Humppila Glass Factory in Finland in the 1970s. The series was handcrafted, and each glass has small individual differences in the poured glass. These variations are part of the original character of Kievari and make the set more alive.
The heavy clear glass stem and base give the glasses a satisfying weight.
