Overview
Vintage hand-blown art glass bottle was produced around 1945 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Nuutajärvi glassworks, happened in 1943. Made in a heavy turquoise glass, the piece combines sculptural mass with deeply worked relief surfaces, giving it a strong visual and physical presence.
Form & Surface
The bottle has a tall, rectilinear body with softened edges and a short cylindrical neck. Its walls are decorated with integrated relief motifs depicting glassworks building and geometric textures. The relief is formed directly in the glass, creating layered depth and a tactile surface that shifts with light and viewing angle.
Marked: Nuutajärvi 1793-1943 Notsjö.
Color
The glass is a saturated turquoise with darker tonal density toward the base and edges. Numerous small air bubbles are visible throughout the body, adding movement and natural variation to the surface.
Production & Context
Produced at Nuutajärvi as part of a commemorative series celebrating the factory’s 150-year history, 1943. These anniversary pieces were made in limited numbers and were not intended for mass production.
