Vintage Nuutajärvi 2 Apila coffee cup and saucer, model 1893/1977, made in Finland. The design originates from the late nineteenth century and was returned to production in 1977, remaining in the Nuutajärvi collection until 1985.
The clear glass is covered with a delicate clover and floral pattern, repeated across both the cup and saucer.
Apila by Nuutajärvi
Apila means clover in Finnish. Kerttu Nurminen was responsible for bringing this historic Nuutajärvi design back into production in the 1970s.
The pattern is especially effective in clear glass, where the decoration becomes more visible as light passes through the cup and saucer.
