Clear glass modernist vase from the Veera series designed by Heikki Orvola for Nuutajärvi during the early 1980s.
The form narrows softly at the center and opens outward at both ends, giving the vase a balanced, architectural silhouette. Across the surface runs a dense diagonal texture that catches light in constantly changing ways. Depending on the room and angle, the glass can appear almost icy, watery or softly metallic.
The vase has a satisfying weight for its size at 530 grams, which gives it a stable presence in hand and on a shelf. A piece that works equally well with flowers or standing empty as a sculptural glass object.
Produced only for a short period between 1983 and 1984.
