Oiva Toikka for Nuutajärvi – Pro Arte Vase
Oiva Toikka for Nuutajärvi – Pro Arte Vase
Vintage art glass vase from the Pro Arte series designed by Oiva Toikka for Nuutajärvi. The bowl-shaped vase stands on a narrow circular foot that widens into a generous rounded body with a straight open rim.
The surface shows a speckled decoration in orange and silver tones, recalling the autumn vegetation of the northern tundra. Each piece in the series is handmade, making every example unique.
The glass is iridised, a technique that creates a subtle metallic sheen and shifting reflections across the surface.
Designer and Context
Oiva Toikka (1931–2019) is one of Finland’s most notable glass artists. The Pro Arte series reflects his experimentation with colour and surface texture. The decoration recalls elements of his Tunturissa series (1987–1989).
