In ancient times, it was believed that such decorative elements brought luck and prosperity to their owners. The panel is coated with red-brown paint, a color associated with luck and grace in Chinese culture. Additionally, the rectangular area with the carved composition is painted with gold and dark green colors.
The decorative pattern covers the entire surface inside the rectangle, typically a sign of a skilled craftsman. The central element of the composition appears to be a lily flower.
The versatile nature of the floral arrangement makes it suitable for modern interiors. I would especially like to emphasize this, as not every antique item fits well into our contemporary apartments or homes.
From the Old Imperial China, dating back to the second half of the 1800s to the early 1900s. Height is 36 cm, length is 13.7 cm. In excellent condition considering the age of the piece. The material is presumably elm.
On the reverse side of the panel, there is a modern wax seal certifying the antique origin, with customs approval for export outside of China.
