Pentti Sarpaneva, Vase Candle holder Juno
Vintage reversible vase–candleholder named Juno, designed by Pentti Sarpaneva in the late 1960s for the Finnish glassworks Mäntyharjun Lasi. The piece is made of amber-colored glass and can be displayed in two positions: as a vase or as a chunky candleholder, depending on which side is up.
Dimensions
Height is 14 cm, Diameter is 11 cm. Excellent vintage condition.
Form
Its sculptural form is Space age: a thick column connects two bulbous, disc-like shapes that resemble spacecraft forms or futuristic architecture. The design has a strong, even monumental presence, which is characteristic of Sarpaneva’s interior objects.
Interiors
It works well in both minimalist and mid-century interiors, especially spaces with natural materials, darker tones or retro-futuristic elements. It can be used as a statement object on a shelf, coffee table, or sideboard, with or without a candle or flowers.
