Vintage Kumela glass punch bowl and ladle, designed by Sirkku Kumela Lehtonen and handmade in Finland in the 1960s.
The bowl is made in an intense cobalt blue glass with a simple rounded form. The matching ladle has a deep blue bowl and a long clear glass handle, creating an elegant contrast between colour and transparent glass. The original Kumela Riihimäki Made in Finland label remains on the bowl.
Finnish Glass from the 1960s
Sirkku Lehtonen-Kumela was the first Finnish women designer working as an art director in the glassworks.
This set combines a practical serving form with the strong colour and restrained shapes typical of the factory during the 1960s. The long handmade ladle is especially distinctive and completes the original serving set.
