Striking Finnish raanu woven by hand in wool and marked Taidekutomo Kota, Suomi. The composition is built from horizontal bands that shift gradually from deep navy and violet through blue and green to yellow, then return to darker tones near the lower edge.
The colours create a strong sense of depth and changing light, almost like a distant northern landscape seen at different moments of the day. Narrow patterned sections at the top and bottom frame the broader central fields and give the textile a clear architectural rhythm.
Compact in size, it works especially well as a textile artwork where the colours and woven structure can be seen closely.
