Vintage vase and aroma glass, model 1131, designed by Finnish designer Saara Hopea for Nuutajärvi glassworks in the 1950s–1960s. The piece is crafted in transparent green amber glass, with a smooth surface and refined proportions.
The form is bulbous with a wide rounded body that narrows towards a short stem, standing on a circular foot. The design allows the piece to function both as a decorative vase and as a large aroma glass, with a capacity of 75 cl.
Designer and Context
Saara Hopea (1925–1984) was a Finnish female designer and jeweler of the Modernist era. She worked at Nuutajärvi glassworks, where she created innovative forms in glass art and tableware. Her works from the 1950s and 1960s are now considered Scandinavian Modern classics.
