The brooch's prototype from ancient times was found in Mikkeli, Finland.
Since the 1930s, inspired by the finest examples of ancient Finnish, Scandinavian, and Karelian art found by archaeologists, Kalevala Koru crafted a large series of bronze and silver jewelry. Today they are considered classics of Nordic design.
Kalevala Koru is one of the most famous jewelry companies in the Nordics. In the 20th century the best designers created jewelry for the company, drawing inspiration from ancient art.
Charms hanging on strings were called 'jingly' in ancient times. It was believed that their tinkling scared away evil spirits.
