Vintage Finnish glass vase designed by Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi in the 1960s. The form is tall, clean and gently tapered, with a narrow mouth, thick clear base and deep blue grey glass gathering toward the bottom.
The colour is one of the strongest details here. In daylight it reads as pale smoke blue with a grey tone; in stronger light the lower part becomes darker, closer to petrol blue or deep teal. This gives the vase more depth than a simple clear or monochrome piece.
Finnish Modernist Glass
Tamara Aladin’s designs for Riihimäki often have a clear architectural line, and this vase fits that period well. The silhouette is simple at first glance, but the heavy base and shaded glass make it feel very 1960s, somewhere between Scandinavian modernism and a softer Pop art mood.
It works well with a single long stem, a small branch, dried grass or simply as a glass object on a shelf or sideboard. The narrow shape makes it easy to place even in a smaller interior.
