About the Set
Vintage set of 5 Romantica cordial glasses designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala, Finland.
The glasses have a compact, sculptural form with a low cylindrical bowl, a clear stem and a solid round foot. The proportions are small but expressive: the wide cup, thin rim and strong horizontal line at the base of the bowl give the set a distinct modern Finnish character.
Suitable for cordials, liqueurs, small desserts or as refined small serving glasses.
Design and History
The Romantica series was conceived in 1962, with its European debut at the Milan Triennale, the most prestigious design competition in Europe.
Tapio Wirkkala was one of the key names of Finnish glass design, known for his ability to give clear glass a quiet but memorable presence. In Romantica, the form is restrained, but the details are carefully controlled: the bowl seems to float above the stem, while the thick lower glass catches light beautifully.
Material and Form
Made from clear Finnish glass. The design combines a light upper bowl with a heavier lower section, creating a strong play of transparency and reflection.
The slightly flared rim and the clean stemmed shape make these cordial glasses suitable for both everyday use and a more arranged vintage table setting.

Why It Stands Out
This set of 5 Romantica cordial glasses is a fine choice for collectors of Finnish glass and Iittala tableware. The smaller format gives the design a concentrated elegance, while the stemmed shape keeps the glasses visually light.
They are practical enough for serving and distinctive enough to remain on display.
