About the Set
Vintage full set of 6 Romantica champagne martini glasses designed by Tapio Wirkkala for Iittala, Finland.

The glasses have a very expressive stemmed form: a low, wide bowl, a sharply defined horizontal line under the cup and a slender, balanced stem. The silhouette is elegant but not fragile in appearance. It has the clear architectural presence often found in Wirkkala’s best glass designs.

These glasses work beautifully for champagne, cocktails, martini style drinks or as refined dessert glasses.

Design and History
The Romantica series was conceived in 1962, with its European debut at the Milan Triennale, the most prestigious design competition in Europe.

Tapio Wirkkala was one of the central figures of Finnish modern design, and Romantica shows his ability to make clear glass look both functional and ceremonial. The shape is simple at first glance, but the wide bowl, thin rim and strong stem give each glass a sculptural quality on the table.

Material and Form
Made from clear Finnish glass. The design plays with transparency, reflection and weight: the bowl is light and open, while the stem and foot give the glass a confident vertical structure.

The low coupe shape gives the set a classic festive character, suitable for both modern interiors and vintage table settings.

Condition
Very good vintage condition. Some glasses still retain the original Iittala Made in Finland sticker.
