Wall Tapestry Raanu in Red Colors | Finland 1970s
Wall Tapestry Raanu in Red Colors | Finland 1970s
A handcrafted Finnish raanu from the 1970s, woven in natural wool and showing a warm Nordic Autumn palette. The piece combines traditional textile techniques with a distinctly modernist sense of rhythm through its stripes, soft gradients, and shifting color fields.
Design and Colors
The tapestry features horizontal stripes in deep red, burnt orange, warm yellow, soft beige, and earthy brown. These tones reflect the seasonal colors known as Ruska in Northern Finland and Lapland. Darker and lighter bands alternate to create small transitions and a clear sense of movement within the weave.
