Holmegaard Per Lutken, Art glass vase Chimney 16912, Denmark 1960s
Vintage hand-blown art glass vase or small sculpture is a work of midcentury Danish design by renowned glass artist Per Lütken for Holmegaard. The piece is signed Holmegaard 16912 with the artist’s characteristic monogram "PL." It dates to the 1960s and exemplifies Lütken’s mastery of fluid organic forms.
Height is 12.4 cm. Light traces of use consistent with the age of the item and light traces of residue. Please, refer to the photos.
The vase is cylindrical with straight sides and a flat base. The top has a slight outward curve at the rim. Its color is a dark, smoky gray-blue that becomes slightly more transparent toward the top. The surface is smooth and glossy.
Its minimalist but sensuous design makes it a perfect fit for:
- Scandinavian or Japandi interiors, where form follows function and nature-inspired materials dominate.
- Brutalist or modernist spaces, where it can act as a subtle contrast to heavier textures like concrete or stone.
- Minimalist luxury settings, placed on a low table, sideboard, or reflective surface to accentuate its transparency and the play of light within the form.
Per Lütken created over 3,000 objects for the Holmegaard glassworks, where he worked for 45 years. His works are represented in museums on every continent - from Danish institutions and the British Museum’s modern art collection to the museums in New Zealand.
