Collection: Designer: Per Lutken

Per Lütken (1916–1998) was a leading figure in 20th-century Danish glass design. For over five decades, he worked at Holmegaard Glass Factory, where he developed a wide range of glassware known for its fluid shapes and careful craftsmanship.

Lütken’s signature collections - such as Provence, Idéelle, Selandia, and Carnaby - are praised for their elegant curves, balanced proportions, and tactile appeal. Each item was hand-blown, making it both functional and one-of-a-kind.

His work is featured in the permanent collections of renowned museums including:

  • Victoria and Albert Museum in London

  • Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York

  • Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen

  • Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in Denmark

Although not widely decorated with formal awards, Lütken’s influence was far-reaching. His pieces were regularly shown at international exhibitions, helping to define the global reputation of Scandinavian design during the midcentury period.

Today, his designs are collected for their beauty, lasting quality, and place in design history. Every piece carries the mark of skilled hands and a deep understanding of form and function  - a quiet statement of elegance that lasts.
