The motif shows a lion with a radiating mane, symbolizing strength, light, and protection. The design is directly inspired by medieval Finnish treasures.

Historical Background
The pattern originates from an archaeological discovery made in Halikko, Finland, in 1887. Among the finds was a medieval silver cross pendant fitted with a circular relic container. The lion image on the lid, reinterpreted here in bronze, was the model for the Aurinkoleijona collection.
