Kalevala Koru Paratiisi Earrings | Bronze
Kalevala Koru Paratiisi Earrings | Bronze
Vintage Paratiisi earrings, crafted in bronze and marked KK. The earrings feature a tall arched upper plate with an openwork motif, from which multiple chain strands are suspended. The design echoes early medieval jewelry, with its solid forms and moving elements, but merges seamlessly with contemporary jewelry art.
The surface shows a warm bronze tone with natural patina.
Historical Background
The ornament evokes a motif from an early Viking Age chain set discovered in Kernaala, Janakkala. The imagery depicts two long-necked birds, interpreted as peacocks, guarding the vessels of the water of life - an early Christian symbol of paradise.
