Vintage bronze brooch, titled Solki 167, originates from Ylistaro, Finland, and is a creation of the Finnish jewelry company Kalevala Koru. Inspired by Iron Age ornamental traditions, the piece showcases a symmetrical, shield-like form, with a stylized serpent motif at its center, a recurring theme in Nordic symbolism representing protection and rebirth.
The upper arc is decorated with rounded bead-like protrusions reminiscent of a crown, while the perimeter features a textured chain design that echoes ancient metalwork patterns. The central openwork oval is framed by intricate detailing and flanked by curling elements suggestive of mythical creatures or spirits, anchoring the brooch in both myth and materiality.
